Importing Federal DNC files with ListMaker for SpitFireX (Access version)

Note: These instructions  are for the non-Pro (Microsoft Access database) version of SpitfireX.
Click here for instructions on the Pro(MySQL) version:
The website for registering and downloading for the Federal Nocalls lists is: http://telemarketing.donotcall.gov
Make sure you close any open campaigns before you start this process.

1.Download the file from the website to a place you can find it on your Dialer.
For example, to the Desktop. The files downloaded from the website will be in Winzip format.

2. To unzip the file, double-click on it and hit I Agree when Winzip opens

3. Next click on Extract.

4. Select your Desktop for the Location and click on Extract, to the right.

You will end up with a new, text file that has the same name as the zip file.

5. Next we need to open the file in WordPad and save it to remove some formatting that is not compatible with Listmaker. Right click on the file and left click on Open With.

If that window does not come up, click on Choose Program and scroll down until you see WordPad. It is going to near the bottom of the list of programs.

6. After the file is open, click File and then Save.

7. Answer Yes when it asks if you are sure you want to do that.

8. Close WordPad. Continue with the next file, if necessary.

9. Open Listmaker and click on Utilities/Import List.

10.
Click on the yellow folder icon in the top right hand corner to select the file you want to import and double-click it to open it.

11.
You will see the area code and phone number of the first record in the ASCII Data window, on the left hand side.

12.
Click on the area code first and then click on the small field to the left of Voice#. Then click on the phone number and again click into the field next to Voice#. It will ask if you want to Add to Current field, click Yes.

13.
Click on the save button icon to the right of List Filename and then browse to the DMANocalls.mdb file which is usually located in C:\SpitfireX\.

As you can see above, there are two nocalls files that SpitFire checks against when dialing. The DMANocalls.mdb is typically used

14.
When it asks if you want to append to this file, click Yes.

15.
Lastly, click on the green traffic light button and click No when it asks if you want to scrub the file you are importing(we do not want to scrub a DNC against itself).
This process can take up to an hour, depending on the size of the DNC file you are importing. To speed up the process, make sure you are not running any campaigns at the time and close all uneeded programs. Also you can Minimize the Import and ListMaker windows, as this will speed up the import process.
When it is finished you will have a window telling you how many records were imported.

You can then close Listmaker and your are finished.
