Manually Creating a Nocalls file in the Pro Version
Introduction
The SpitFire Campaign software is configured to check against at least one and possibly two internal nocalls database files on the Dialer. These files can been used to add federal dnc data or personal nocall data. An error message comes up when the SpitFire X Campaign software can't open one or both of the nocalls database files. Either the nocalls database files have been deleted or moved or the Campaign software is not pointing to the correct location for the files.
This article describes some trouble-shooting methods for both the Access and Pro (MySQL) versions of the software.
First, here is what the message looks like in the Pro version. The error message is the same in Access.
The National NoCalls list missing error.
The Local NoCalls List Missing error.
SpitFire X Access
By default, in the Access version of the SpitFire X Autodialer software, there are two files located in the C:\SpitFireX\ folder that are used for filter nocalls data. The filenames are Nocalls.mdb and DMANocalls.mdb. To first check that the Campaign software is pointing to the correct files, click on Options-->Preferences-->General.
Under the No Calls section, there is a Tier 1 No Calls and Tier 2 No Calls field. There is also a folder for each in the event you want to point to a different file for nocalls filtering.
The Tier 1 No Calls file is typically used for storing data from the Federal No Calls database files that can be downloaded from the FTC's website: telemarketing.donotcall.gov.
The Tier 2 No Calls file is typically used for storing personal/local nocalls data. It is also the location that phone numbers are added to when using a Script that allows the customer to press a touchtone to be added to the Dialer's nocalls database.
Note: The SpitFire X software actually checks against both files, simultaneously, while dialing.
Clicking the corresponding yellow folders allows you to point the correct location of the files (if different from the default).
IMPORTANT: Close and reopen the Campaign window after changing to a different nocalls file from the defaults.
Manually Creating a Nocalls File in Access Version
If you discover that one or both of the files is missing, you can recreate the files with the ListMaker application. Make sure to close any Campaign windows before proceeding.
1. Open ListMaker and click on List-->Create List.
2. At the next window, click the Up One Level button (circled in red here) to go to the C:\SpitFireX\ folder.
3. Once you are in that folder, simply type the name of the missing file. Remember, the default names are Nocalls and DMANocalls.
Note: If you decide to create a nocalls file with a different name or save it in a different location, then you will need to point to that file or files in the Campaign software under Options-->Preferences-->General.
4. After clicking Save, you can close ListMaker or import data into the newly created file.
SpitFire X Pro
The SpitFire X Pro software also can point to 2 different files for filter nocalls data when Dialing. However, by default the Pro Campaign software is set to use the same nocalls database for the Tier 1 and Tier 2 nocalls databases. The reason for this is that the Pro version of the software does not have the same file size limitations as the Access version and thus it is usually not necessary to have it pointing two different database files. You can, though, create and use two different nocalls database files in the Pro version. And, just as in the Access version, the Tier 2 nocalls file is used to capture phone numbers of customers responding to the Add to Nocalls option that can be used in your Script.
The location of the Campaign settings for the files is the same in the Pro version as it is in Access: Options-->Preferences-->General.
Nocalls databases in the Pro version are represented with ini files (as they are with other list files) however, they are in a special format so you will not see any other of the lists when selecting a different nocalls file.
IMPORTANT: Close and reopen the Campaign window if changing these settings to point to a different nocalls file.
Manually Creating a Nocalls file in the Pro version
If, for some reason, the nocalls database is deleted in the Pro version of the software, simply opening ListMaker will automatically create a new, blank nocalls database. To delete a nocalls list in the Pro version of the software, you cannot use ListMaker. You can, however, delete them with MySQL Query Browser.
If you want to create multiple nocalls databases, you can do that with the Import Nocalls feature in ListMaker Pro. Just make sure you click Create New, instead of Migrate to Existing, when saving the data.
